It is important to address your invitations to entire families, and not just the one individual that you are inviting. So, rather than an invitation going to “Mr. John Smith”, present it as “The Smith Family”, or “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”. This way, your guests don’t have to wonder if their significant other can attend too, which could have them feeling uncertain and awkward.
